Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma, Grief and Relationships in McKinney, Allen, Frisco, TX

Adriana Lewin, Licensed Professional Counselor for anxiety, trauma, grief and relationships

let’s be honest:

You were keeping it together, then life happened.

You didn’t expect bad news, a huge argument, losing it on your child, a break up or a life changing event. You were doing just fine managing, but now it feels like the feelings are just too much to manage …..

Now, you’re ready for change…

You want better coping strategies

The coping strategies you currently have are no longer effective. Your coping skills use to do their job just fine in managing your negative thoughts or feelings. But now those thoughts and feelings leave you feeling alone. Hurt. Overwhelmed. TIRED.

Your done with “People Pleasing”

Do you find yourself constantly saying “yes” to people, when you wish you could just say “no” without feeling guilty that you let someone down? So you say yes, while sacrificing your wants and needs, and you end up feeling frustrated. Defeated that you again feel like your needs don’t matter,

You want to feel like you’re good enough

The thoughts in your head are so demanding that they leave you feeling like you are sprinting through the race of life without the chance to pace yourself. It’s hard to turn off that inner critic who keeps telling you to push harder, work harder, do better. BE better. Only THEN, you’ll be good enough. Only then you’ll matter. Only then, others will notice you. Love you. Respect and accept you.

You could use some new skills to improve your relationship(s).

THe last argument you had with your parent, your friend or your partner, has you questioning your sanity— doubting yourself. It’s left you feeling like there is no hope unless you (or they) get therapy. But you know they won’t, so maybe you think if you could just figure out how to make the situation better or handle the next argument better, things will all be better. .

In your relationships, maybe you find yourself wondering…

“How do I keep picking the wrong person, over and over again?!” , or you find yourself completely unsatisfied and lost in your relationship. You can’t shake the nagging feeling that you are alone, hurt, angry. You feel hopeless in your marriage and know that if you want it to be different, it’s time to do something different.

You are an overwhelmed parent

with parenting, working and all the demands pulling at you from all directions. You are tired of the way you are parenting and wish you could do it differently. You find yourself losing your temper and yelling, feeling the need to spank, or completely disconnect and find a way to numb your emotions (by endless scrolling on social media, hiding the in a room, or netflix and chillin’). But you want to be a better parent.

You realized that your family is complicated….and exhausting

The idea of family gatherings have you feeling already tired from the anxiety of trying to avoid another dramatic family showdown …… and you haven’t even gathered yet!! Oy! Trying to navigate the dynamics of complicated families can leave you feeling like you’re alone, but you know you want more for yourself and for your current or future kids . You want to be courageous enough to be the cycle breaker.

You have experienced the end of something and the start of something new..

Loss happens after the end of a relationship, losing a job you loved, starting life over again in a different place. Or maybe things seem trivial to you now after you or your loved one experienced a life changing diagnosis or unexpected death.. Loss and Grief now reside in your heart, and it feels like an unwelcome squatter who just…Won’t…Leave. And you feel like nobody truly gets it, unless they have lived it.

Hi! I’m Adriana!

I help adults who feel lonely, hurt, and angry feel connected, resilient, empowered and in control of their thoughts and emotions. Show up as a better you for yourself and your relationships.

Healing begins with Connection.

Finding the right therapist – the one you connect with - can feel quite overwhelming. My role as a therapist is to provide a safe place for you to feel seen, understood, secure and supported as you explore why you do the things you do and/or feel the way you feel. You’ll see my soft side, my humorous side (I love a good pun or movie quote), the wisely curious side that helps you gain self awareness and the encourager who will help you acknowledge and celebrate the small wins as you learn new ideas and coping skills! I won’t just sit and quietly smile and nod. I’m a roll up the sleeves kind of therapist, who will help you really dig to the root of the issue and help you find relief from the physical symptoms and freedom from the negative thoughts.

I believe in authenticity, and that’s what you get when you work with me! I’m just another human being, with my own life experiences as a mother, an entrepreneur, a sister, a friend, who has experienced sibling loss, childhood trauma and lived as a caregiver to a child with critical medical needs. I don’t freak out with flower and expressive language…chances are, you will hear my colorful language as well!

I won’t tell you to “get over it”, that “you need to move on”, or that you should “find meaning” to your challenges and then everything will be fine. We work together to figure out what is keeping you stuck, and together we will figure out what coping skills you already have that are working, and help you learn new skills that work for you, while helping you heal your central nervous system.

I am passionate about helping people drop the feelings of anxiety, shame, and isolation. As a therapist, I have seen the transformation in my clients, and I have personally experienced healing through therapy after my own trauma. Change is possible. And I can’t wait to help you find your resilience!
